Have You Suffered Due To A Defective Knee Implant?

The Zimmer NexGen CR-Flex Knee was introduced in the United States in 2003, advertised as a knee implant that would allow greater range of motion. A significant number of patients with the Zimmer implant have experienced loosening of the device and resulting medical problems.

Symptoms and warning signs of Zimmer implant failure include:

  • Intense pain in the knee
  • Swelling in the knee and adjacent areas
  • Dislocated knee implant
  • Infections

If you have a Zimmer Persona Trabecular Metal Tibial knee implant, you may be entitled to money damages. The largest knee implant maker in the world, Zimmer, recently issued a recall of its Persona knee implants. The implant was designed to mimic a natural knee but in March 2015, a Class II recall was issued due to a high number of complaints. As of the time of recall, the company was reporting approximately 6 complaints per 1,000 implants which is significantly higher than similar devices.

The recall is related to increased complaints of premature loosening and radiolucent lines (dark lines on x-rays which can indicate poor fixation). Complications include joint fluid, tissue and implant wear debris, and bone damage called osteolysis. These conditions can result in severe pain, and tissue and bone damage. This device was on the market from April 2012 to April 2015. The recall includes nearly 11,700 implants. If you had a knee replacement during this time frame, you may have been implanted with the recalled device.
